Butterfly Workshops February 2026

Hello and welcome to the Moozle blog.

Here in the Amsterdam our February half term just ended which means my latest kids workshops took place last week.

A total of 9 children took part over the two days and we worked on butterfly shaped cushions and zippered pouches. Three of my more experienced student tried piping for the first time and they did so well!

We used my own printed organic cotton poplin fabric for the backs of the cushions and the pouch linings :)

The fabric is for sale by the meter on my website so you can use it for your own sewing projects, it sews like a dream! It's the same fabric that I use for my bedding, it's fully machine washable and doesn't even need ironing :)

We used an embellishment technique called couching, it’s really effective at creating shapes with yarn, anchored from behind with small hand stitches. I bought special ballpoint pens to mark our designs onto the fabric with ink that disappears when ironed (heat activated) which worked like magic and delighted us all.
