Lion Sewing Workshop

Hello and welcome back to the Moozle blog.

I wanted to share the details for the recent Lion making workshop I held. Such a cute project, the kids were totally entranced and focused so well during this workshop, the older two children were very determined to make the stuffed animals as gifts for future family members they were expecting, it made me feel so proud of them! To see their excited antisipatation of gifting something that they had made for their new baby cousins.

I pre-cut all of the elements needed so that the day went more smoothly, cutting out is a skill in it's self and unprepared pieces takes up too much time during the day. This way we can concentrate starting with everything ready to pin and sew.

Each child has some time where they are guided on the sewing machine so they each get a chance to learn how it feels to use the machine. There is only one machine so that safely can be top priority.

Hand sewing elements are an important part of each project. It builds hand to eye coordination, improves dexterity and hand strength and creates an activity whilst waiting for your turn on the machine. Many new sewing and problem solving skills are learnt during the workshops.

Hand sewing is both a relaxing and practical skill to have.

Lunch breaks in the park are always a good idea!

And then of course we need a brownie break, well deserved after a full day making lions!

Well done and thank you to everyone who took part :)

Some parent feedback from the workshop...

"Thank you so much, ***** had the best time and really wants to go again so I'm sure you"ll be seeing her at another workshop soon, she hasn't stopped talking about it!".
